Toni Morrison on Reality TV, Black Lives Matter, and Meeting Jeff Bezos — Discover

In an interview at Literary Hub, Toni Morrison says she wasn’t interested in writing at an early age. “No, I didn’t think about writing until I was 39. I read all the time. I could read when I was three years old and that’s what I did. At some point, I realized that there was […]

Poetry of things

Forever gone, but never forgotten

Brave and strong but,

Too weak to speak

You muscled up enough energy

To tell me

What you wanted me to know;

Because you knew better than I

That you would soon have to go

You held my hand and squeezed it tight

“I love you man”

You said with all your might

I could tell that took more energy

Then you had to spare

And I am ever so grateful knowing you cared

As I kissed your forehead

You rested back in bed

“I love you too”

I said.

 You held my hand

Even after I let go

I gave a squeeze

So you would know

I haven’t left…

I couldn’t go.

When you fell asleep

I left to weep

I wasn’t as strong

As I wanted to be

For your mother or father

Or your family

It hurts me to say goodbye,

But when I look to the night sky

I know beyond the moon there is a Star

And I think to myself,

“There you are”

Till we meet again

Your friend

Broken Hearts Never Mend

The heart of a woman doesn’t want to be alone

The heart of a man can be hard as stone

The heart of a woman loves unconditionally

The heart of a man loves unintentionally

The heart of a woman is fragile to rejection

The heart of a man is shamed to affection

The heart of a woman is easily broken

The heart of a man is easily boasted

The heart of a woman succumbs to commit

The heart of a man fears commitment

The heart of a woman is stronger than pride

The heart of a man strives on pride

The heart of a woman defines love

The heart of a man is ignorant to love

The heart of a woman feels in vain

The heart of a man feels no pain

The heart of a woman breaks every time

The heart of a man bears the crime

The heart of a woman falls again

The heart of a man is stone again
